A successor to Heroquest?

I may have found a replacement for heroquest which is actually currently available and looks damn cool! There is a series of 'dungeons and dragons adventures' board games, including Cstle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon and Legend of Drizzt. All of them use a simplified version of the dnd rules, have plenty of missions, weapons and options and use randomly generated tile based dungeons and really cool minis. I am thinking of getting either ravenloft or ashardalon in september... Castle Ravenloft on he Wizards website

Change of venue

The wargames club will now run in c0 every week so that anyone who wants to paint or make terrain etc. can do so while the others play. There are still some people who need to finish painting their squads before they can take part in Grunt/Off, but the others will be able to start playing tomorrow.

Grunt/Off

Ingorducing Grunt/Off, the new winter GruntZ season at LSCWC! We will be playing multiplayer death match style games with individual squads for fabulous prizes! Prizes will consist of miniatures and possibly the odd mars bar if supplies run low. Minor modifications to the rules will be used - since no commanders are in use, we will ignroe the suppression rules. We wil also play on a very small table for instant action! Once everyone has the hang of the rules, we may start playing several games at once using more than one table. If this happens, extra units , tanks etc. may well be introduced. There will also be a GruntZ painting contest using the figures we are currently painting up in Paintpocalypse. Once again, voting will be open to the publicand run from this blog. Once again, prizes will be miniatures - 15mm ones this time. It s tempting to offer paints as a prize, but even the cheapest hobby paint sets cost more than the club can afford... And don't forget to keep upto date woth Days Of Scrundor! The forum is currentlY not taking new members since it's proved so popular, but membership may well be reopened when we complete the current quest.

Days Of Scrundor

At last, something to do on those pesky days of the week which are not Thursday - Days Of Scrundor; a Play-By-Forum RPG!

It's a fairly simple idea, you log onto the forum online and then you just post what you are doing in the game thread. Okay, it takes a bit longer for things to happen than in an ordinary face-to-face RPG, but it allows for a lot more depth and detail than we get in our games of Hero Quest. Plus it's running on Dice Chucker, so most of you already know how it works!

You can invent your own character with your own skills, perks and quirks, and as much background detail as you want. Then you can use your character to go forth and beat up some orcs - what more can you want?

You'll need to go to the Days of Scrundor forum and read the Forum Rules before you sign up and create a character. Then we can start playing! I'll be updating the forum fairly regularly (probably once every two days or so) so things should flow fairly quickly!

LSCWC in 2012

Welcome back gang!

During Term One we've got a few exciting new games lined up.
First off, the Mighty Meeple-Riddled Majesty of Carcassonne; a cunning German game of tile placement and meeple-wrangling.
Then there's HeroQuest, the classic early 90s board game of seeing out Orcs and punching them in the face.
And finally there's Muscle Car Apocalypse, Toppy's own game (still undergoing some development) of hooning around in powerful cars with powerful weapons.
